Another Family Day in Woodland

Home to Woodland, CA and Return: 160 miles

We enjoyed a gathering of the clan back in January and enjoyed ourselves so much that we gathered again – and it was relatively easy to organize because everyone wanted to!

My twin sis, Gale, and her husband, John, drove down from their home near Gridley. Harris, my cousin, and his wife, Barbara, drove over from Sacramento, and my cousin, Murle, drove to our place from Ripon and joined us aboard Cecil the Diesel for our drive to Woodland.

We agreed to meet at the same place as last time, the Woodland In-N-Out Burger store. There was also a Jimboy’s Taco in the same shopping center, and we all had a choice. Most got burgers and fries and some bought Mexican food and all got their meals to go and joined together for lunch aboard the coach.2017-7-25e family lunchIt was a happy bunch aboard the coach for lunch on that July day in Woodland. That’s John (L), Murle, Barbara, Tom Selleck’s twin, Gale, Lavonne and Harris. It was a grand and tasty time together.

In the movie the palms marked a treasure and each store is considered a treasure. And don’t overlook Cecil the Diesel – she acted as Dale’s Diner for the whole family!

We all met at 1130 and visited and feasted ’til 1400, a lunch that lasted over two hours as we caught up with each other’s goings on. This was just our second such lunch gathering, and we all agreed to meet again in December or January.

We headed home about 1400 so we’d beat the commute traffic in Sacramento and Stockton. The drive home was quick and easy as we like. 2017-7-25j typical Sacto Valley viewThis shot of the valley as we headed home portrayed the valley as it really is this time of year; wherever there is no irrigation everything is dry and dead while irrigation works wonders.

We arrived home at 1530 and simply unloaded ourselves. Murle headed home in her car, Lavonne and I, after I parked the coach, also headed to the house. The tanks would wait ’til the cool of the following morning.

And the next planned trip will be soon; we’ll visit Gale and John in Gridley, followed by an August trip to Dean’s and family in Oceanside. I’m already looking forward to those travels!

About FishWisher

Over the years I have posted many exciting fishing and boating stories here, but now in my seventies, it was time to sell the boat and find less demanding pastimes. All the fishing stories are still here! I will now post my travels aboard the motorhome and other activities. I hope y'all will still enjoy the fishing and boating adventures and perhaps peek in on my post-boating activities on occasion. Thanks for dropping in and I hope you enjoy your visit.
