    Feed lots are mostly steers. A farmer for milking cows only needs a couple steers. Keep the females and let them have a calf or 2, and depending on the amount of milk fat and how much the cow gives, they either keep her or send off. A lot of those in your picture are laying down, which means they are comfortable. HOWEVER, if they were to smell the blood of the kill floor…not good I’ve been told by my eldest daughter who worked at a meat packing plant for 13 years.
