Christmas 2021 – Again Held Hostage by Covid!

Christmas 2021: At home with Big Blue

We missed Christmas with family last year due to Covid. After much planning for this year’s Christmas gathering, we again had to cancel all plans less than a week before the big day.

Sadly, Covid had infected some family members after several of them met in San Diego a week or so ago. While the cases seemed very light, and those infected suffered only  mild symptoms so far, it was clear to all that our Christmas plans had to be put on hold. Again.

There has been talk of having the family gather for Christmas in January, but only time will tell if that will be possible. The new variant, Omicron, seems to get past the vaccinations and presently is creating a spike in infections. My wife, Lavonne, and I have holed up for the duration and are keeping safe at home as much as possible.

This holiday season’s single photo of Yours Truly, stuck at home for the duration. But, I must admit that “stuck at home” isn’t all bad!

This would be my first Christmas and birthday, which is the day after Christmas, without my twin sister, Gale. She passed on January 13 from Parkinson’s Disease. John, my brother-in-law, has sold their home in Gridley and moved to Arizona. Our frequent trips to Gridley aboard Big Blue are now a thing of the past, too. Yep. It’s a tough holiday season this year.

I am also dealing with heart issues again, as AFib has chosen to join me for the holidays. AFib is Atrial Fibrillation which means my heart beats without the usual rhythm. I’m hoping that will be cleared up soon, and I’ll be able to bum around Texas after the first of the year.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and here’s looking forward to a much better 2022!

Thanks for the visit, and I trust that I’ll be posting about a grand Search for Sunshine trip next month!

About FishWisher

Over the years I have posted many exciting fishing and boating stories here, but now in my seventies, it was time to sell the boat and find less demanding pastimes. All the fishing stories are still here! I will now post my travels aboard the motorhome and other activities. I hope y'all will still enjoy the fishing and boating adventures and perhaps peek in on my post-boating activities on occasion. Thanks for dropping in and I hope you enjoy your visit.

Hi, Sandy and Jim. It’s good to hear from you. Thanks for the good wishes, and we also hope that we, and you also, have a better 2022 than these past two years have been.
    Thanks for the visit.
