Here’s a wonderful song about travelin’ the good ol’ USA and how great it is to see the “real” America where so many fine folks live on farms and in small towns – as can only be seen from the rural roads of our country. This could be the theme song for my many travels aboard our RVs as I wander those rural roads. Click and enjoy Moe Bandy as he sings Americana!
RVing is my favorite pastime these days, even though I actually spend most of my time in the recliner at home. I love seeing the country through that huge, panoramic Class A windshield – and plan to see a lot more in the coming years.
My family and friends shook their heads in disbelief one last time at my last sale of a boat and pickup. I surely have been through a bunch of boats and trucks in the past few years, but I can say with certainty that I’ve sold the last boat – way back in October, 2013!
It was during the couple of years prior to selling it that I found the work involved in boating and fishing just wasn’t much fun anymore, to say nothing of the endless fishing regulations with which Kalifornistan has strangled much of the fun out of the sport. So I sold the boat and the truck and really, that was the last time!
I’ve often said that one of the key Truths of Life is knowing your place in the grand scheme of things. Earl (from the comic strip Pickles) is a wise old mentor for guys my age, and I’ve learned a lot from him…

Hi Darren – Yes, I’m still having a good time but I miss the boat if only to admire her just sitting on the trailer. But with the new regs for sturgeon, etc. I can’t say I miss the fishing all that much. The do-gooders have pretty much ruined it. Good luck to you out there and thanks for the visit.

Thanks for the visit, Tim and John. If I ever have another fishing report, maybe from fishing with a friend, I’ll report it as usual. I didn’t know RVing was a topic there, but if I see some RV discussion, I’ll join in. And. I’ll drop in from time to time to see if there’s a boat thread I can comment on. – Dale
I’ll miss the fish stories Dale, but enjoy lifes next adventure. Rving is another great relaxing hobby. PS: Love that car!
Thanks for the visit, Fred. I miss living the stories, too. But I don’t miss the wind, the work, the heat, the cold… and I find none of that here in my recliner! But it does get a bit boring. I’ve done quite a bit of RVing lately and more planned soon. I love driving and seeing the country.

Hi Dale, I was out on the old Sac salmon fishing yesterday when old SeaRay Bill started calling you on the VHF radio. I told him the only boat you have now is you land yacht. We all miss seeing Fishwisher on the water. But I follow your adventures on this site and enjoy them very much.

Hi, Dan – It’s sure good to hear from you and to know ol’ SeaRay Bill was calling for me. It’s especially good to hear from you as these days I get very few comments on my site because the fishing days are behind me. If you see or talk to Bill again tell him I said hi and appreciate him thinking of me. I’m happy doing what I do and really don’t miss the fishing. It was getting to be a lot of work for this old man. And it’s good to NOT be dealing with the ever increasing and foolish regs they keep adding to the sport. I just came across your site and have enjoyed reading your stories. I have a 16″ Klamath very similar to your old K. It has serviced me well fishing for salmon and stripers in the Delta and even on several coastal rivers in Oregon. Oddly enough I am considering a boat upgrade to a 2007 North River Bayhawk. Sound familiar? I have found a great deal through a friend but my only concern is the lack of a live well. Bleeding fish over the side of the boat with sea lions swarming is not my idea of fun. Do you know if there is an easy way to add a built in live well to the Bayhawk? Also any other comments regarding the Bayhawk would be appreciated.

Thanks for the visit. Sorry, I can’t be any help about a live well. I haven’t been on the water for six years now, and I have to admit I’ve forgotten more things than I remember in my old age. But could you tell me where you found a link to my site? I have more visits on my various boat projects than any other pages on my site. But I have no idea where the viewers come from. Any idea would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dale! You’re looking great! Ihad a stroke in 2020 that left me paralyzed in the hospital for 3 months Slowly, I’ve regained function that I can walk but the left arm is pretty much gone.I’ve moved in with my caregiver, a retired nurse who has saved my life time and time again. Cooks better than my mom! Still own my home which gives us an extra yard to mow. Still have C-Monkey, but she’s been in the barn for the last three years. May divest myself of her if I find an interested party. Even sold all of my hunting rifles,so you know I was REALLY sick!

Thanks for the reply – glad to know where these “hits” on my site come from. Of all the RV stories and fishing and boating pages, those boat and boat project pages are still, by far, the most popular – even six years since I have owned a boat.
The only reason I bought the second C-Dory and sold the North River was that I wanted to spend nights on the water, and couldn’t do it on the Bayhawk. My idea of spending the night is to sleep in a comfy berth, in a warm cabin, which the C-Dory offered. Other than that, I really liked the North River. She was a very stable boat for the delta.
